Rick Mcleod, resident director and writer with Celtic Storm Films began his career in 2003 as a writer initially before grabbing the bull by the horns and pulling in a small production team he went on to direct his first short film in 2006, When Nature Calls which is now in development as a feature trilogy. The above Directors Showreel only shows a small selection of productions he has worked on over the years.
Officially, he likes his role as a director/writer, but more often than not tends to get his hands dirty by working as producer and in the props/costume dept. In his own words, he will do whatever it takes to get the job done and wont ask any of his cast or crew to do something he wouldnt be prepared to do himself, although that will remain to be seen (he hasnt worked with heights, spiders or snakes yet)!
Rick is also happy to go infront of the camera, often in his own projects, but he does get a huge buzz from being in other films.
“Taking on the role of Alex Donovan in Never Forget the Brave gave me a much better aspect on how I was as a film director and is certainly a learning curve I have never forgotten, the fight choreography however, thats a different story, better not go into that!”
Rick Mcleod Directors Showreel contains a versatile mix of genres and he loves to explore new concepts, he is curently in talks to direct a feature comedy and a horror outside Celtic Storm Films’ own slate of projects. More news on this will follow shortly, so for up-to-date news and the odd ranting (often about how slow the internet is at the home office), follow Rick and Celtic Storm Films on Twitter @CelticStormFilms
Although Rick likes to be professional, he always insists that everyone brings a sense of humour with them to the shoot…
